Dear friends!

For all couples who want to tie their union with official marriage bonds in the Kingdom of Thailand, our new article is dedicated. We will tell you how to organize such an important event. The whole procedure includes three stages: collecting documents, marriage registration, and the procedure for legalizing a Thai marriage certificate.

Let's start with the first stage, which includes collecting the necessary documents in Bangkok. The most important document is an affidavit of marital status, in simple terms, a certificate of marital status. To obtain this document, the couple must personally appear at the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Thailand with the originals of their foreign passports and fill out an affidavit form. After that, the information will be checked and certified by the responsible employee of the Consular Section and handed over to you personally. This certificate must be legalized and translated into Thai at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. It is necessary to allow 2 working days, excluding Wednesday, to collect the documents and allocate a budget in advance to pay the fees/duties of the Consulate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Thai Marriage CertificateLet's move on to the most important thing - official registration of marriage in Thailand, which can take place in Bangkok, Pattaya, on the islands of Phuket, Samui, Chang. There are two options, the first is to get married at the local registry office, the second is to invite an officer from the local municipality to your wedding ceremony, which will be organized on the beach or villa. In both cases, you must submit a package of documents to the local registry office, the package includes photocopies of your passports and an affidavit of marital status, translated into Thai and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Immediately after the ceremony, the responsible person from the administration / officer will hand you a marriage certificate in Thai. Now, according to the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand, you have become husband and wife!!!

Now we move on to the final stage, which will allow you to be considered spouses in Russia. A few days after the wedding ceremony in Thailand, you go to the local registry office where your wedding took place and take an extract from the book of marriage registration acts. Now you have 2 documents in hand: a marriage certificate in Thai and an extract from the marriage registration book. Your task is to legalize the Thai marriage certificate so that your marriage is recognized as valid in the territory of the Russian Federation. First, the documents are legalized and translated into English at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, after which they are submitted (with a translation into Russian) for legalization and certification of the translation to the Consular Section. Now you have a marriage certificate in Russian, with which, upon returning to Russia, you can go to the local registry office and put a stamp on the marriage in your passports, after which your marriage is considered legal in the Russian Federation.

At first glance, official registration of marriage in Thailand may seem like a rather complicated and tedious procedure, but this is only at first glance. Having thought through each step in advance, you can easily conclude an official union in this wonderful country.
